John W. Bock papers 1941-1945.

This collection consists of a diary (February 1941 - November 1941) John W. Bock kept during his induction and training in the United States Army. The collection also contains letter written to his family (March 1941-February 1945). Miscellaneous documents include his certificate of completion for U.S. Army cooking school, application for appointment as aviation cadet, appointment of leader of selective service men from Richland County, selective service questionaire, report of induction of selective service man, and newspaper clippings regarding the activities of the 41st Division United States Army. (Small Collection 2465) This collections consists of a diary, letters, and miscellaneous documents regarding John W. Bock's service in the United States Army during World War Two.

John W. Bock was born on May 3, 1916 in Sidney, MT to Cyrus E. and Ruth Link Bock. After graduating from Sidney High School, John attended business school in Chillicothe, MO of one year. He enlisted in the United States Army February 1, 1941 and served overseas in the Pacific Theatre and New Hebrides Islands. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army at Fort Lewis, WA on September 28, 1945. John returned to Sidney where he married Hilda Louise Muecke on January 6, 1951. He worked in Sidney ...
